RTD Biosciences is a fast-growing research peptide manufacturing company dedicated to producing high-quality research peptides for the global scientific community. Located in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina, we specialize in lyophilized peptides for research use only. As we expand our team, we are seeking a Senior Chemist to support and lead the development, synthesis, and optimization of peptide manufacturing processes.

About the Role

As a Senior Chemist , you will play a key role in overseeing peptide synthesis, purification, lyophilization, and analytical testing processes. This is a hands-on position ideal for a highly motivated chemist with a strong background in peptide chemistry and a passion for precision in a fast-paced research manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and process optimization.
• Oversee purification methods including preparative HPLC and lyophilization techniques.
• Develop and validate analytical methods including HPLC and mass spectrometry (MS).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in production and method development.
• Author and review SOPs, batch records, technical reports, and laboratory documentation.
• Ensure lab operations align with safety and research-quality best practices.
• Collaborate with QA, production, and leadership to meet project goals and timelines.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior chemists and technicians.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in peptide synthesis (preferably in a manufacturing or CRO setting).
• Strong working knowledge of SPPS, purification, lyophilization, and analytical characterization.
• Experience with peptide-related instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS, lyophilizers, etc.).
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
