Job Description

Siebert Williams Shank & Co., LLC (SWS or the Firm) is conducting a search for experienced Investment Banking candidates for Vice President positions to join its expanding Infrastructure and Public team. Only candidates with relevant prior experience in public finance investment banking or municipal advisory will be considered.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to work hybrid (4 days in-office) in our New York City headquarters. Vice Presidents are more experienced junior investment banker roles within the Firm and provide direct analytical and quantitative support for senior bankers to provide investment banking services to clients in the public sector. At SWS, all bankers are an integral part of the financing team, assume a high level of responsibility, and actively participate in all aspects of transactions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Work alongside senior staff in preparing proposals and/or coordinating responses; draft client presentation materials and memos discussing financing strategies, market trends, firm qualifications, etc.
  2. Prepare graphical representations of various debt statistics.
  3. Compile municipal issuers historical financial information from public documents.
  4. Prepare and maintain databases on client debt.
  5. Analyze historical debt issuance and debt affordability.
  6. Perform financial modeling and cash flow analyses to evaluate debt financing alternatives.
  7. Participate in active transactions.
  8. Participate in presentations to clients, as needed.
  9. Format, print and bind professional-looking documents for meetings.
  10. Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. B.S. or B.A. in finance, economics, public administration or related fields is preferred.
  2. Relevant experience working in the public finance sector required.
  3. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills are a must and good understanding of financial markets is expected.
  4. Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  5. Ability to use Bloomberg and other finance industry statistical and structuring tools (DBC Finance, WhatsBest!) is desirable.
  6. Highly self-motivated, well-organized, and willing to work long hours when needed.
  7. Ability to prioritize tasks, react to changes, solve critical issues, and work independently while being team-oriented.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional presence with clients is required.
  9. Must have appropriate FINRA licensing relative to experience.

We are Committed to Fair Pay. At SWS, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target total fixed compensation range for this position is $170,000 - $215,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will be determined by the candidates particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
