Overview Boston Conservatory at Berklee is seeking an experienced and collaborative Stage Manager to join its Performance Services team. This full-time, mission-driven role is at the heart of a creative, student-centered performing arts community. The Stage Manager will support and oversee rehearsals, performances, and production activities for a range of high-impact Conservatory productions—including theater, dance, opera, and musical works. The Stage Manager plays a key role in bringing artistic visions to life while helping students gain hands-on experience in a professional-caliber production environment. Working closely with faculty, staff, and students, this position ensures the seamless execution of rehearsals and performances and upholds the highest standards of safety, organization, and communication. Key Responsibilities Serve as Production Stage Manager and/or Manager on Duty for assigned productions Supervise and mentor staff and student assistant stage managers (ASMs) Oversee rehearsals, including technical and dress rehearsals, ensuring smooth run-of-show Prepare and maintain Prompt Books , performance reports, and rehearsal schedules Attend and communicate updates from production meetings to stakeholders Coordinate rehearsal space reservations and rehearsal prop organization Collaborate with the full production team and department leaders Support additional events such as Summer Programs and Orientation performances Qualifications B.A. in Theater or equivalent professional experience 3–5 years of stage management experience across theater, dance, and/or opera Experience working with and mentoring students in higher education or professional training environments Proficiency in blocking notation and calling performances from scripts and scores Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills Ability to work independently, lead under pressure, and support late-night and weekend events Familiarity with FileMaker Pro is a plus The expected hiring range is $57k - $62k.
