Job Description

Company Description

Precision Electronic Services has been specializing in sales, support, and repair of industrial controls for over 40 years. Our highly trained staff, expertise, and advanced equipment ensure top-quality electronic control and servo motor repair services. At PES, we remanufacture defective units by replacing aged components and those known to fail, extending the life of the equipment and driving cost savings for our customers. We provide a two-year repair warranty on all repairs. Our services include AC and DC drive repair, PLC repair, HMI panel repair, and repair of other industrial controls across major brands such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and more.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Electronic Technician at our Danville, VA facility. In this position, you will diagnose, repair, and test a wide range of industrial electronic controls used in manufacturing and automation environments. Work includes troubleshooting down to the component level, replacing electronic components, performing soldering and rework, and confirming proper operation through testing.

This role offers exposure to a variety of equipment and control technologies, including AC/DC drives, PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems. It requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and independent problem-solving. You will work at a dedicated bench, use professional-grade test equipment, and collaborate with a highly experienced team while contributing to efficient and high-quality repair operations.

This position is ideal for technicians who enjoy hands-on electronics work, diagnosing faults rather than replacing boards, and supporting the uptime and reliability of industrial equipment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ technical degree in electronics or equivalent military electronics training
  • 3+ years of experience repairing electronic equipment
  • Ability to read schematics and use standard electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
  • Soldering and rework skills for electronic components
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a production environment
  • Basic computer skills for logging repairs and accessing documentation
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience repairing industrial controls such as AC/DC drives, PLCs, HMIs, and servo drives
  • Background in industrial electronics repair, military electronics, automotive electronics, or similar technical environments
  • Familiarity with servo motors and motion control systems
  • Experience replacing individual electronic components instead of swapping full boards
  • Ability to manage multiple repairs and meet quality and throughput expectations

Compensation & Details

  • Location: Danville, VA (on-site)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week; overtime eligible after ramp
  • Start Date: Immediate (two open positions)
  • Pay Range: $29–$31/hour + ~$2/hour performance incentive bonus
  • Benefits: Health insurance, 401(k), PTO, paid holidays
  • Relocation: Will pay for relocation with a 2-year retention agreement
