R&D Engineer – Irvine, CA

Position Summary
As an R&D Engineer at Medtronic, you’ll join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial consulting environment focused on delivering impactful results in the medical device space. You'll work on innovative small disposable devices—driving projects from design to pilot builds.
Key Responsibilities
Develop design control artifacts including plans, protocols, reports, drawings, and technical summaries.
Participate in pre-clinical studies to characterize device performance and capture design inputs.
Conduct verification and validation testing alongside laboratory technicians.
Contribute to risk management efforts.
Help guide the company through design freeze into initial NPI (New Product Introduction) pilot phase.
Qualifications & Skills
Proficient with design controls throughout the product development lifecycle.
Solid understanding and experience in risk assessment strategies.
Skilled in design verification and validation (V&V) testing.
Capable of performing statistical analysis and compiling documentation for executive review.
Experience in pre-clinical environments working on Class II (a or b) or Class III medical devices.
