Process Operator

As a Process Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring customer orders are fulfilled and dispatched promptly. This involves various warehouse tasks, general plant cleaning, and handling liquid chemicals used in water treatment. While this role primarily involves material handling, there are opportunities for cross-training in mixing solid and liquid chemicals.

Responsibilities:

• Take direction from the shift manager to fill orders, which includes filling totes or drums with liquid chemicals and staging them at the dock.
• Load trucks upon their arrival and ensure all shipping paperwork is completed accurately, including process conditions, test results, and instrument readings.
• Engage in general cleaning duties such as washing hoses, cleaning drums, and maintaining the warehouses tidiness.
• Use electronic pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts to move and stage finished totes or palletized drums.
• Spend significant time washing used totes, disposing of them, and processing trashed drums due to increased order volumes.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with sit-down forklifts, with at least six months of experience.
• Strong customer focus and attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling and item handling.
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors for tasks such as drum washing.
• Proficiency in taking direct feedback on work performance and processes.
• Comfort working with chemicals, following safety procedures closely.
• Ability to shave facial hair to fit into a respirator as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in chemical manufacturing is advantageous.
• Mixing or blending experience is a plus.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes multiple shifts: 1st shift (4am-12pm), mid shift (8am-4pm), and 2nd shift (12pm-8pm, occasionally until 8:30pm to complete tasks). While weekend work is not mandated, employees often work extra hours to ensure smooth transitions between shifts. Safety is prioritized, with PPE requirements including bump caps, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and chemical suits. The temperature-controlled warehouse can still be warm in summer months. Main chemicals handled include Phosphates, Sodium Hypo, Caustic Soda, and Sodium Coagulants.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camby, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
