Job description :

The Mishra Lab investigates the cardiometabolic effects of the fasting-induced hormone asprosin . Recent publications from Dr. Mishra include:

By integrating molecular biology, neuroscience, cell biology, omics approach and mouse behavioral studies, our research focuses on three main areas: (1) Uncovering novel functions of asprosin, (2) Developing therapeutic strategies to target asprosin, and (3) Elucidating its cellular signaling mechanisms

Two postdoctoral projects are currently available:

• Project 1 : Neuroscience of obesity-associated hypertension
• Project 2 : Pre-diabetes-induced changes in pancreatic signaling

The Mishra Lab fosters a collaborative and collegial research environment. We welcome motivated scientists looking for a productive and intellectually engaging postdoctoral experience.

We are particularly interested in early-stage postdocs (fresh Ph.D.s or those in their 1st–2nd year of postdoctoral training) who aspire to become independent investigators, are inclined toward grant and manuscript writing, and have a strong publication record.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess at least 3 of the 6 technical skills listed below.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Ph.D. in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related life science discipline
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in a collaborative research environment
• Demonstrated ability to write research reports and/or peer-reviewed publications

Desired Skills (minimum 3 of the following):

• Rodent Telemetric surgery and data analysis
• Neuroscience techniques: immunohistochemistry, microscopy, stereotaxic or related surgeries
• Omics-based approaches to study cell signaling
• Experience with hepatic or pancreatic cell culture systems
• Standard molecular biology: PCR, western blot, enzymatic assays
• Experience with mouse handling, genotyping, and colony management
