Caregiver/Companion For Aging Mother With Dementia

A loving family in Purchase, NY, is in search of a wonderful caregiver/companion for their aging mother, who has dementia. The role can be Monday through Thursday or Monday through Friday, live-in, with full coverage. The family lives right down the street and would like to keep Mom in her home for as long as possible.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the home
• Meal prep and ensure that the principal eats 3x a day
• Medication management
• Be in direct contact with the daughter and family daily about the principal's status and care
• Be proactive to ensure the principal is set up for the day
• Restock essential products in various areas of the home
• Provide light housekeeping, including laundry and organizing
• Assist with packing and unpacking as needed, ensuring that the client's personal needs are met
• Assist with mobility, dressing, and other basic care needs
• Support with daily tasks to promote comfort, safety, and independence
• Assist with managing medical supplies and appointments
• Transporting the principal to and from stores, doctors, and any other appointments as needed

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
• A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to care and support
• Strong emotional intelligence, know when to take the lead and when to step back
• Strong communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Requirements

• Legal to work in US
• Excellent references from previous employers
• Valid drivers license
• Ability to live-in

Salary and Benefits

• DOE and starts at $45+ per hour, depending on experience
