Job Description

INTERIOR DESIGNER

SUM Design Studio + architecture is looking to add an Interior Designer to our growing team. Successful candidates must have 3-5 years of experience within an architecture or design firm and hold a 4-year professional degree.

Job Type: Full-Time

The Role

  • Collaborate with principals and internal teams to develop design concepts, produce complete drawing sets, make finish selections, and create client presentations 

  • Active involvement with all phases of a project, from planning through construction administration

  • Establish trusted relationships with clients while working to translate their needs into meaningful design

  • Coordinate with consultants, incorporating their expertise into drawing sets

Minimum Qualifications

  • Self-directed experience with all phases of the architectural and design process, including programming and space planning, schematic design, code research, permitting and independent production of construction documents, details and specifications

  • Experience with commercial tenant improvements, including design and drafting of floor plans, ceiling plans, casework, elevations and details  

  • Understanding of BOMA area calculation methods and an ability to provide calculations to owners and brokers

  • Ability to manage relationships and translate client needs into successful spaces

  • Experience adhering to project budgets and timelines

  • Technical proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • A solid ability to multitask, prioritize project tasks and produce high quality work while managing various deadlines

  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. An ability to sketch and communicate design concepts is key. 

  • Experience with 3D modeling using Enscape and SketchUp
