Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Haul Truck Operator Trainee, you will be working on the Mine Operations team to perform general laborer duties while developing the skills required to operate haul trucks.

• Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
• Perform general labor duties, including but not limited to:

• Vehicle inspections and basic upkeep.
• Cleaning and organizing equipment and facilities.
• Operating and managing pit dewatering systems.
• In-pit driving on mine roads around heavy equipment.

• Developing skills to operate haul trucks, water trucks, and articulated trucks, including participating in training to develop skills to safely operate the equipment.
• Actively participate in line-out and safety meetings, contributing to safety discussions and operational efficiency.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

• Entry-level position - no previous mining work experience is required.
• Ability to safely perform job duties and interest in learning how to operate a haul truck.
• Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.
• Previous experience performing related work in a safety-sensitive environment, such as the construction, farming, delivery or transportation industries.

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
