OVERVIEW
The Graphic Designer plays a critical role in developing product-ready artwork and technical design projects for Peterson Farms’ family of brands. This position combines creative design expertise with technical precision to ensure all deliverables meet printer production standards and comply with FDA labeling requirements. Responsibilities include collaborating with printers and packaging suppliers, managing prepress processes, and creating accurate production files. The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in printer specifications, dieline execution, and regulated label compliance, ensuring high-quality, compliant packaging solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop product-ready artwork and technical design projects for Peterson Farms’ family of brands.
- Ensure all packaging and label designs meet printer production standards and comply with FDA labeling requirements.
- Collaborate with printers and packaging suppliers to confirm specifications and resolve technical issues.
- Manage prepress processes, including preparing accurate production files and verifying die lines.
- Maintain compliance with regulated labels through precise execution and attention to detail.
- Support internal teams by providing creative solutions that align with brand standards and operational requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Packaging Design, or related technical design discipline strongly preferred
Work Experience
- 3+ years of experience in graphic design with hands-on packaging production workflow ownership
- Demonstrated experience delivering print-ready artwork to professional packaging printers
- Experience in regulated label development and packaging redesign projects
Skills and Knowledge
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Strong technical background in package-ready layouts, print profile, file builds, brand standards, prepress, production handoffs
- Ability to manage multiple artwork revisions under strict deadlines with high precision
- Understanding of color spaces (RGB, CIMYK, Pantone), ICC profiles, PDF/X exports, label panel layouts, sealing zones, dieline specs
- Ability to QA and troubleshoot artwork files against printer proofs and production expectations
- Working knowledge of FDA label compliance and FDA label compliance guidelines for regulated labels
- Experience reviewing or creating printer proofs, production run outputs, dieline templates, retail package boundaries, barcode standards
- Comfort explaining printer specifications to suppliers and internal teams
