• Prepares patients for clinic visit or procedure by taking vital signs, weight, and other pertinent information per physician protocol and assists practitioner when required. Participates in patient education.
• Cleanses wounds, changes dressings, removes sutures, and removes casts. Additional duties as assigned if trained and demonstrated competency and knowledge of universal precautions.
• Prepares in advance for clinics and/or procedures by requesting pertinent medical records for different EMRs and Organizations. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of multiple different EMR systems.
• Practices within the guidelines of job description and refers patients to physician or nurse if unable to provide/satisfy patient needs or answer questions.
• Contributes to Quality Improvement and Job Hazard Analysis processes for department.
• Effectively maintains ongoing communication with co-workers, directors and supervisors, keeping them informed of pertinent information that effects patients care, physician issues, and/or other departmental issues of concern.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in dealing with physicians, staff, peers, and public/customers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions and sterile technique.
• Assists with scheduling duties, as needed.

Requirements

BLS required upon hire and maintained throughout employment. High school diploma or equivalent. One year of medical office experience preferred. CENA or PCT certification, preferred.
