About the Role

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of quality systems and food safety fundamentals at our Elk Grove Village, IL facility. The incumbent will oversee FDA and USDA regulatory requirements, including HACCP/HARPC, GMP, and SSOPs.

What you are going to be doing

  • Oversee QA programs & systems for all manufacturing areas (meat, bakery, sauce, hummus, falafel).
  • Lead staffing, training, and scheduling of the QA team.
  • Lead HACCP/Food Safety Team activities, developing, implementing, and verifying plans.
  • Manage and verify HACCP and prerequisite programs (GMPs, USDA-SSOPs, allergen control, foreign material, inspection, training, sanitation).
  • Develop and maintain environmental testing program to meet USDA/FSIS and customer requirements.
  • Communicate quality metrics and inspection results in KPI reports to corporate QA, plant management, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and policies for product quality evaluation and support.
  • Manage expense control (landlord, labor, service, supplies) to display Cost of Quality.
  • Provide leadership for audits and inspections, including SQF preparation.
  • Conduct internal and external audits of vendors and storage facilities.
  • Investigate and address customer complaints, develop action plans, and track issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions on process failures.
  • Lead or participate in projects to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Maintain USDA export process compliance with customs and regulations.
  • Implement procedures to test raw materials, WIP, and finished product.
  • Collaborate cross?functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, Operations, and R&D.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Plant Management on efficiencies and automation issues.


What you need to have

  • B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology/Biology, Chemistry, Public Health Studies, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • SQF Practitioner Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SSOP, USDA, FDA, and SQF requirements.
  • Strong problem?solving skills; ability to analyze data and recommend actions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Strong planning and organization; prioritizes tasks and develops realistic action plans.

Compensation Range: $110k $130k with a 10% bonus potential.
