Russell Tobin's client, a financial company, is currently hiring External Fraud Investigator in Columbus, OH.

Job Title: External Fraud Investigator (Fully Onsite)

Location: Columbus, OH 43240

Start Date: October 27, 2025

Pay Rate: $24 - $26.42/hr.

Schedule: First Shift | Training: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST (30 min unpaid break)

Contract Type: Contract

Interview: One round, onsite with Columbus Team Leads

Parking: Free onsite parking available

Job Overview:

Seeking External Fraud Investigators to support fraud prevention efforts through detailed investigations and SAR (Suspicious Activity Report) filings. The role is 100% onsite and includes mandatory in-person training. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and prior experience in investigations, fraud, banking, or accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate external fraud and related fraud typologies in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Conduct transaction analysis to identify suspicious or fraudulent activity.
• Prepare and file complete and accurate SARs.
• Maintain detailed and accurate case notes in a case management system.
• Report findings with SAR recommendations as required.
• Stay compliant with internal and external regulations including BSA/AML requirements.
• Participate in mandatory training sessions and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAR writing and quality assurance experience
• Prior fraud investigation experience
• Background in financial services, accounting, auditing, or banking
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word (Required)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential data with integrity
• Excellent time management and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Comfortable adapting to change in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, criminal justice, behavioral sciences, or related field
• OR equivalent hands-on experience in fraud investigations and SAR filings
• Recent graduates with applicable degrees are encouraged to apply

Important Notes:

• Training is mandatory with zero absences permitted for ~4 weeks (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST).
• Candidates must be comfortable with fully onsite work.
• Electronic fingerprinting must be scheduled within 48 hours of offer.
• Vendors are expected to maintain clear communication during interview and onboarding stages.
• Candidates who go unresponsive for more than 24 hours must be flagged immediately.
