Job Description

Executive Director | $75K–$80K | Onsite in Escondido, CA | Full-Time | Mission-Driven

Are you a passionate leader ready to make a tangible impact in the fight against human trafficking? Join a well-established nonprofit at a pivotal moment of growth as their next Executive Director. This is your opportunity to lead with purpose, empower others, and build a legacy of lasting change.

About the Organization

This highly respected, survivor-informed nonprofit has been serving vulnerable populations in San Diego County for over a decade. With a remarkable success rate in transitioning survivors to independent living, this team is known for its compassion, innovation, and effectiveness. Programs include safe housing, peer support, and resource navigation—delivered through a trauma-informed, community-based lens.

The organization is faith-informed but not faith-imposed —open to all, inclusive by design, and guided by values of dignity, respect, and empowerment.

Role Overview

The Executive Director (ED) will lead the strategic, operational, and fundraising efforts of the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED will provide hands-on leadership across programs, development, staff management, and community engagement.

This is a role for a humble, mission-aligned builder—someone energized by growth, not ego.

  • Champion the mission and long-term vision
  • Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement strategic plans
  • Foster a team culture rooted in inclusivity, empowerment, and collaboration

Fundraising & Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the organizational budget
  • Expand revenue streams through partnerships and innovative funding strategies

Program & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee delivery and expansion of survivor-focused services
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and ethical best practices
  • Support and grow a team of ~8 staff and 20 volunteers

Community Advocacy & Visibility

  • Serve as lead spokesperson in community partnerships and public forums
  • Deepen relationships with local governments, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years in nonprofit leadership (Executive or Director level)
  • Strong background in fundraising , budgeting, and donor relations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams with compassion and accountability
  • Experience with grant writing and relationship-building with foundations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker with a willingness to roll up their sleeves

Preferred

  • Background working with trauma survivors or vulnerable populations
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and survivor-centered models
  • Networked in nonprofit, social services, or philanthropic circles

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000–$80,000 annually
  • Full-time, onsite in Escondido, CA
  • PTO and professional development support
  • Opportunity to lead a respected, mission-driven organization making real impact

This is more than a leadership role—it’s a chance to serve, advocate, and create change that ripples outward.

If you're ready to lead with heart and grow with purpose, we encourage you to apply.
