Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Recruitment Coordinator, the Enrollment Specialist/Recruiter will assist in outreach efforts to prospective students throughout New Mexico and targeted cities. The Enrollment Specialist/Recruiter will demonstrate an understanding of the enrollment cycle. They will assist prospective students in their transition to Clovis Community College (CCC). Enrollment Specialist/Recruiter will have recruitment goals to focus on developing and implementing recruitment and marketing strategies designed to meet the needs of the population.
Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Recruitment: Professionally represent CCC at area schools, college days and surrounding community events providing admission information to prospective or newly admitted students. Conduct presentations outlining college programs for area high schools. Initiating continuous contact and relationships with high school counselors including facilitating the Forum for High School Counselors. Assist students with the enrollment process and provide campus support during registration, during special events such as the Curry County Fair and College Days in accordance with the Regulations of the New Mexico Education Council. Assist in scheduling and delivering presentations at area schools, businesses, libraries and social service agencies.
  • Planning & Development: Assist with the annual student recruitment and retention plan and facilitate various recruitment programs. Participate in and direct the development and implementation of a variety of college recruiting activities to attract and maintain students/potential students, including special populations. Recruit for instructional programs that need to be targeted in those efforts.
  • Communication: Communication with prospective students, parents, high school teachers and counselors, and the community through events, appointment, telephone, email and other media; presenting information about the benefits of an education at off-campus locations, including radio interviews as well as to all on-campus visitors. Communicate and respond to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Admissions: Maintain confidentiality under guidelines of FERPA. Screen incoming calls, answer questions and direct calls as needed. Review and process application information. Create and maintain electronic student files including information change forms, registration forms and admission forms. Process and print CCC transcripts per student request. Assist students in registration activities including adding/dropping course, changing course status and student withdrawals. Assist as needed at the commencement/graduation ceremony. Assist with the Information Desk as needed.
  • Record Maintenance: Develop and implement effective methods of maintaining records to track student progress, follow up on prospective students and collaborate with the Institutional Researcher to ensure that appropriate data is included in the student data management or tracking system. Establish and maintain a database of potential students for recruitment activities and prospect mailings.
  • Recruitment Publications: Identify, develop and produce necessary recruitment publications. Maintain a rotation of printing and updating recruitment materials. Develop and distribute recruitment materials to this population. Create and distribute monthly counselor newsletter and high school student newsletter, Purple Press. Coordinate and facilitate high school student advisory group.
  • Administrative: Responsible for campus tours. Participate in committees, councils and professional development activities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, reaching above the shoulders, pushing and pulling of up to 50lbs with the use of a dolly, and occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 10lbs.

SCHEDULE DETAILS:


Must be available to work 40 hrs. per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree with course work in business, social science, or related area.
  • Dynamic presence, creativity, and the ability to connect with the target audience are essential.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate with students individually and to present information in a group setting.
  • Must understand the complexities in relation to non-traditional students.
  • Demonstrate and possess a strong understanding of cultural competency, and how to communicate effectively to different audiences.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Critical thinking and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple tasks required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work independently as a part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) year experience in higher education environment related to student development or counseling is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is desired.
