Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, Data I/O is a global company with subsidiary offices in Munich, Germany and Shanghai, China and the leading provider of device programming systems and solutions for memory devices. We are currently seeking a contract-to-hire Desktop Support Technician who is curious, detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering high-quality technical support. Whether you're reinstalling software, replacing a hard drive, or helping a colleague connect to the network, you bring patience, technical know-how, and a “let me help you with that” attitude.

This position serves as the primary technical resource for ALL laptop, desktop, cable, and workstation-related support tickets across both Windows and Mac platforms.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Install, configure, and support Windows and Mac desktops/laptops in accordance with company standards
  • Perform system updates, basic maintenance, and endpoint security setup (e.g., BitLocker)
  • Provide Tier 1–2 support for hardware, software, networking (LAN/Wi-Fi/VPN), and A/V systems
  • Set up and troubleshoot peripherals, printers, and conference room tech
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in Active Directory
  • Support mobile devices, MFA setup, and file access issues
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding and device refreshes including data migration
  • Maintain documentation and ticketing records; contribute to knowledge base
  • Collaborate with IT team members on projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or IT certification preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in desktop or end-user support
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 and macOS environments
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle escalated support issues and multitask effectively
  • Solid knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and common business software
  • Experience with Active Directory user and group management
  • Familiar with Group Policy and basic Exchange Online administration
  • Comfortable using remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer, ConnectWise)
  • Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware or Citrix
  • Experience managing BitLocker encryption and basic endpoint security
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk)
  • Skilled in browser setup, profile migration, and cross-browser support
  • Knowledge of cable types and standards; able to diagnose connectivity issues
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation abilities
  • Customer-focused mindset with patience and empathy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar IT certifications (Microsoft, Apple, etc.)
  • Exposure to or basic experience with VMware or Citrix environments
  • Familiarity with cross-platform device management tools (e.g., Intune, JAMF, or SCCM)
  • Basic knowledge of PowerShell or command-line tools (Terminal/bash) for automation or troubleshooting
  • Experience working with enterprise antivirus tools such as Vipre, CrowdStrike, or similar
  • Previous experience supporting a mixed Windows/macOS environment in a corporate setting
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies like VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop, or Hyper-V

The pay range posted is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range. At Data I/O, team members in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or sales incentive, based on their role. Most are eligible for an annual bonus based on company performance which is set at a percentage of the team member’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
