Job Summary:

A Crane Operator is responsible for enduring the safe and efficient lifting of heavy loads on maritime vessels. This role also involves inspecting crane equipment and carrying out some maintenance. Crane Operators play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and safety of equipment on ships and offshore structures.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

1. Equipment Handling: Plan, organize, and execute lift operations of heavy equipment, machinery, or materials on marine vessels. Ensure that all loads are within approved limits.
2. Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of all equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Inspect all rigging equipment and ensure all tools and materials are in optimal condition before operations.
3. Communication: Coordinate with other crew members, supervisors, and project managers to ensure effective communication and safe execution of lifting operations.
4. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of crane inspections, lift operations, maintenance, equipment usage, and any incidents or near misses. Develop, implement, and complete lift plans and risk assessments as required.
5. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other maritime professionals, including ship crew, engineers, and project managers, to achieve project goals.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• NCCCO certification is required
• Experience with Friction and Hydraulic Cranes in a maritime setting to move heavy loads, equipment, and materials. Experience in utilizing Ringer Cranes is preferred.
• At least 5 years as a Crane Operator.
• Ability to read and interpret rigging drawings and lift plans.
• Physical fitness and stamina required for crane operations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and industry standards.
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Working Environment:

Crane Operators work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions. They may be required to work at heights. They are required to work in close proximity to heavy machinery. This role may involve irregular working hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on project requirements.
