POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible to provide mental health services to NuHope and PREOP Center clients. A Counselor, or Mental Health Counselor, works with patients to help them overcome and manage different mental and emotional challenges. Their duties include meeting with patients to listen to their problems, diagnosing their mental or emotional disorder and building treatment plans and coping strategies for the patient to follow.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide appropriate evidence-based psychotherapy with individuals, groups and/or families
• Conduct intakes, psychosocial assessments, and updates as needed
• Utilizes mental health diagnosis established by medical providers during initial evaluation and screening
• Develop appropriate goal focused, individualized, treatment plans containing measurable goals and objectives; obtain client and care team input as appropriate
• Updates and completes discharge planning as appropriate
• Maintain communication with internal medical care team and collaborative clinical team
• Participate in weekly case collaboration with clinical and medical team
• Provide input for NuHope program planning, individualized to each client 
• Maintain accurate and timely charting of all client session notes
• Complete daily billing accurately and timely

 
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or a similar field
• State counseling license 
• Clinical experience working with issues related to mental health diagnosis, substance abuse and history of trauma
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and listening skills
• Proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences
• Bilingual
