Controls Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $86,000 - $131,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex control system issues, including electrical, software, and hardware failures.
• Lead the commissioning, start-up, and validation of new machinery and automation equipment.
• Optimize existing control systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and safety.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, control narratives, and technical documentation.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and and production teams on automated systems.
• Manage automation projects from concept to completion, including scope definition, budget, and timeline.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and diagnose electrical/control issues.
• Experience with robotic systems (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) and/or industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
• Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics and control panel layouts using CAD software.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and their application in machinery control systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) or industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, Kuka).
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, C#) for data acquisition or custom applications.
• Familiarity with database systems (e.g., SQL Server) and data historians (e.g., OSI PI).
• Understanding of industrial network architecture and cybersecurity principles.
