Position: As part of our continuous recruitment process, we are seeking Bridge and/or Highway Inspectors for NYSDOT work in the Utica NY region.
Location: Region 2 (Utica, NY) / Counties are: Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery & Oneida.

Inspection work may include but is not limited to the following:
* Highway reconstruction projects including earthwork; drainage; storm water management; pavement milling; joint repair; crack sealing; asphalt and concrete paving; pavement marking; intersection improvements; sidewalks; retaining walls; roadway lighting; traffic signal systems; intelligent transportation systems (ITS) equipment installations; sign and sign structure replacement; maintenance or installation of appurtenances such as noise barriers, guide railing, median barrier, or fencing; graffiti removal; landscaping; or other routine construction contract items.
* Bridge Replacement or rehabilitation projects including substructure and superstructure repairs; repair or replacement of bridge decks, overlays, joints, bearings, sidewalks, railing, fencing, overhead lighting, signs and scuppers; bridge cleaning; stone re-pointing; asbestos removal; and occasional bridge emergency work.

Scope: Construction Inspection Services to be performed by the Inspector Consultant are to ensure that the work of the Contractor conforms to the provisions of the contract documents and all safety requirements. Services to be performed include detailed inspection, on-site field testing of materials & other construction activities as necessary, including field measurement & collection of data necessary to submit monthly & final estimates and progress reports, and preparation of record plans showing all changes from the contract plans. All records shall be kept in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK) including Site Manager and EBO.

Requirements:

• Senior level Engineer Technicians must be NICET III or IV certified preferred.
• Junior level Inspectors must be NICET I or II preferred.
• High School Diploma.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient Computer Skills including Microsoft Office, and Internet Explorer.
• Possession of a valid NY State driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• Prior New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) experience is a plus.

Pay Rate: $40.00-$60.00/Hourly Salary. Actual compensation will depend on the individual’s qualifications, education, skills, and experience.
