CNC Machinists can expect to work with both software and hardware, conduct tests and inspections of products, services and software systems, and repair faulty programs and machinery. You should have an above-average aptitude for trigonometry, geometry, statistics and algebra, excellent computer and interpersonal communication skills, physical stamina, and a keen interest in production and processing.

Top candidates will have exceptional critical thinking, time management and communication skills, an ability to handle complex machines and tools, and a willingness to lead by example in the workplace.

CNC Machinist Responsibilities:

• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes, mills, or other machines to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T symbols, and CAD files to determine machining operations.
• Use CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Gibbs CAM) to create and optimize CNC programs.
• Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision tools.
• Adjust machine settings and programs as needed to improve performance or meet specifications.
• Monitor machine performance and proactively address maintenance issues to prevent downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production, inspection, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, and production staff to resolve technical challenges.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products.
• Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.

CNC Machinist Requirements:

• Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
• 3 + years of experience in CNC machining and programming.
• Proficiency with G-code programming and CAM software.
• Strong understanding of metalworking materials and machining processes.
• Familiarity with shop math, trigonometry, and geometric tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with multi-axis CNC machines (3-, 4-, or 5-axis).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing shop floor with exposure to noise, metal shavings, and cutting fluids.
• Fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

Pay is depending on experience and qualifications from $28-$45 per hour
