Join to apply for the Bus Monitor role at Whittier City School District . Hours: 2 to 5 hours daily, split between morning and afternoon. General Responsibilities Supervise and assist students at pick-up and drop-off locations. Meet bus at designated locations. Maintain order on bus with special education students. Assist in lifting equipment and children with disabilities in and out of buses. Perform routine first aid for children with seizures or respiratory disorders. Enforce district policy and procedures, maintaining discipline on buses and at pick-up locations. Participate in staff development programs as directed. Perform related duties as assigned. Ability to Recognize limitations of pupils and provide encouragement and support. Requirements Ability to speak, read, and write English. Environment Outdoor, indoor, and bus setting. Physical Requirements Strength and stamina sufficient to provide required assistance to pupils with disabilities; suitable personality and character traits for supervision and care at bus pick-ups and drop-offs and enroute. May be required to exert 20 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Hearing, speaking, seeing for assigned duties; sitting and standing for extended periods; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, above shoulders, horizontally; lifting heavy objects. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
