All School BusMonitors will be initially hired on as Substitute School Bus Monitors and must complete all required monitor training and testing through the Paulding County School District Transportation Department. Upon successful completion of the training and testing, candidates will be eligible to work as a Substitute School Bus Monitors in the Transportation Department. They will also become eligible to transition to the position of Bus Monitor as those positions become available, at the discretion of the Transportation Department. Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma or GED Must hold or be eligible for a valid CPR/First Aid card Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the Board may find appropriate and acceptable The Paulding County School District reserves the right to accept alternatives to some of the above requirements Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods of time Hearing and speaking to exchange information Reaching, pulling and pushing to operate lift door and necessary equipment Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to accommodate student equipment needs Climbing steps Reaching overhead, above the shoulders or horizontally Seeing to monitor passengers Lifting a minimum of 50 pounds Ability to physically perform evacuation of the bus in the event of an emergency Duties and Responsibilities: Knowledge of laws, policies and procedures as stated in the Driver Reference Guide Assists handicapped students with boarding, sitting and leaving the bus safely, as needed Assists students in wheelchairs by loading and securing chairs before departure and assures students are safely fastened into seats, as needed Secures adaptive and assistive services Maintains order and discipline among passengers on the bus Administers first aid to passengers as needed It is the policy of the Paulding County School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
