Job Description
The Economic Crimes (ECU) bureau chief currently handles a full ECU caseload in three (3) Orange County circuit court divisions. The bureau chief is also responsible for the supervision and training of all felony ECU Assistant State Attorneys (ASA). This will include initial training on statutes, case law and relevant motions including theft, fraud, theft of state funds, exploitation of the elderly/disabled and fraudulent use of personal identification information (commonly called identity theft). The bureau chief is responsible for training ASA’s on reviewing cases for intake and approving all charging decisions until the ASA is cleared by the bureau chief. The bureau chief will supervise ASAs in court and act as a second chair as needed. The bureau chief will provide continuing legal education and training to all ASA’s. The bureau chief will review and decide all requests for the issuance of economic crime investigative subpoenas as well as all extradition requests for economic crimes. The bureau chief is a liaison to law enforcement agencies and may assist in training law enforcement officers and other law enforcement staff. The bureau chief supervises the office’s sales tax pretrial diversion program.
Essential Functions:

The ideal candidate must possess the following:
· Strong litigation skills.
· Trial and evidentiary hearing experience.
· Interpersonal skills to work with victim advocates, homicide survivors, expert witnesses, and our law enforcement partners.
· Experience with expert witness subject matter.
· Flexibility allowing for phone calls and assisting law enforcement at any hour from time to time.
· Must be able to work under pressure, and in high stress and/or high anxiety causing situations, both in and outside the courtroom.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of criminal law, civil law, Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act and Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act;
· Knowledge of modern investigatory techniques and methods of crime detection;
· Up to date investigative knowledge of human trafficking and drug trafficking;
· Preparation and presentation of criminal cases in all levels and types of investigations;
· Ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of others;
· Ability to speak and write effectively and to present clear and logical legal arguments;
· Ability to identify key litigation obstacles, arguments and sentencing issues;
· Ability to understand, issue and execute complex written and/or oral instructions;
· Ability to work as a team and get along with co-workers, participants in outside agencies, and attorneys;
· Ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software;
· Knowledge of some basic Federal law in order to effectively communicate with federal partners.
Minimum qualifications

Specific License or Certification Required : Must be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar.
