Job Description

Vaco Phoenix is looking for an experienced Accountant with AP experience for a top client in Tempe, AZ. This role supports month-end and year-end financial close processes, leads project initiatives, and manages various accounts payable responsibilities. This is a direct hire role that can pay up to $85k per year depending on experience.

Job Duties Include:

• Support month-end and year-end close by ensuring invoices, payments, accruals, and journal entries are recorded accurately and on time.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Research and analyze financial data to support close activities.
• Create complex journal entries, including intercompany transactions.
• Help prepare Excel reports for annual IRS 1099 filings and support internal and external audits.

• Lead assigned projects from start to finish, staying organized and meeting deadlines.
• Work closely with team members and other departments to complete tasks and resolve issues.
• Assist accounting leaders and provide support on special projects as needed.

• Review lease agreements, enter lease data, and process recurring payments on time.
• Perform full accounts payable functions, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and weekly payments.
• Review employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Research and resolve vendor and payment issues quickly and accurately.

The ideal candidate for this position:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required
• 3-4 years' experience in a staff accountant role or 1-2 years as a Senior Accountant
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel - vlookups, pivot tables, Word, and Outlook)
• Experience working with ERP systems
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and take ownership of work product
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
